News from the jewellers bench: A personalised sapphire and gold Ribbon of Life ring

News from the jewellers bench.

This is one of my favourite designs, the original concept began on 'All That Glitters' and the design has been evolving ever since, being reborn each time, adapted for each client to fit their story.

Colin approached me to make this 18ct gold ring for his wife Paula, to celebrate their wedding anniversary. They had loved the OG 'Ribbon of Life Ring', with it's signature twisted ribbon and gold granules, which represented the journey of married life, with it's twists and turns and highs and lows.

The story behind the design.

To enable me to make something that was personal to them, Colin sent me a book that he had made for Paula, it was a birthday gift he'd given her and documented their life together.

It was full of photos and stars, and snippets of song lyrics and poetry that Paula had written over the years. This book formed the inspiration behind the finer details of the ring, the quote stamped into the inside. the engraved stars and the diamonds to represent their two children.

Colin also chose this stunning sapphire himself, and the combination of the blue and 18ct gold was really striking.
