The Jewellery School

Crafting a community of jewellers

At The Jewellery Makers, we envisage a world where creativity knows no bounds, where the transformative power of jewellery making is accessible to all, and where every individual can explore their artistic potential regardless of their background and their jewellery making experience.

Our aim is to increase the opportunity for people in the North of England to train in jewellery making, by creating a centre of excellence, welcoming our learners into a nurturing and inclusive environment.

We are based in Sunny Bank Mills, which is a historic textile mill, nestled between Leeds and Bradford. The Mills are a cultural destination with a contemporary art gallery, growing artist studio community, with creative courses and events. Art and culture are at the foundation of the ongoing regeneration of this incredible site and we are thrilled to be contributing to the creative offering here.

Mission

Our mission is to nurture learners from absolute beginners to seasoned professionals. We are dedicated to offering high-quality education, giving our members bucket loads of confidence. Through our social enterprise course, we strive to open doors for those who have been traditionally excluded from creative experiences, empowering them with new skills and opportunities.

Core Values

  1. Inclusivity: We believe that creativity is a universal human right. Our doors are open to everyone, regardless of age, background, or experience. We are committed to breaking down barriers and ensuring that all feel welcome and supported.

  2. Excellence: We strive for excellence in all that we do. Our curriculum is designed to challenge and inspire, with experienced instructors who are passionate about sharing their knowledge and skills.

  3. Community: We are more than just a school; we are a community. We support one another, celebrate our successes together, and work collaboratively to overcome challenges. Our school is a place where lifelong friendships and professional networks are forged.

  4. Empowerment: Through our social enterprise course, we aim to empower individuals who may not have had access to creative opportunities. We provide them with the tools, skills, and confidence to express themselves and create beautiful, meaningful work.
